Energy System: The Unified Energy System of Russia

The Unified Energy System of Russia (UES of Russia) consists of 71 indigenous energy systems, which, in turn, form 7 united energy systems East, Siberia, Ural, Middle Volga, South, Center and North-West. All power systems are connected by intersystem high-voltage power lines with a voltage of 220-500 kV and over and operate in asynchronous mode (in parallel).

The electric power complex of the UES of Russia includes 880 power shops with a capacity of over 5 MW each. As of January 1, 2021, the total installed capacity of power shops of the UES of Russia amounted to MW.

In 2020, MW of new generating capacities was commissioned, the installed capacity was reduced by MW due to the decommissioning of3253.5 MW of hamstrung and obsolete generating outfit.

All stations induce about one trillion kWh of electricity annually. In 2020, the power shops of the UES of Russia generated billion kWh. (3.11 lower than in 2019). Electricity consumption in 2020 amounted to billion kWh (2.42 lower than in 2019).

The grid installations of the UES of Russia have further than power transmission lines of 110-750 kV voltage class with a total length of further than 490 thousand km and further than electrical substations of 110-750 kV.

The operation of the electric power modes of 7 power networks and power systems located on the home of 81 constituent realities of the Russian Federation is carried out by the branches of SO UES JSC-united and indigenous dispatch departments, independently.

The energy systems of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Mongolia, Ukraine and Estonia operate in resemblant with the UES of Russia. The energy systems of Central Asia-Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan- operate in resemblant with the UES of Russia through the energy system of Kazakhstan. Through the energy system of Ukraine-the energy system of Moldova. The interspersing current lines were used to change electricity with the power system of Abkhazia and transfer electricity to the power system of South Ossetia.

Electricity is transmitted from the power grids of Russia, including through DC inserts, to the power systems of China, Norway and Finland.

Through the device of the Vyborg motor complex, the power system of Finland, which is part of the power grid of Scandinavian power systems NORTEL, operates concertedly (asynchronously) with the UES of Russia.

In addition, separate creators of HPPs of the Kola and Leningradskaya energy systems, as well as one of the blocks of the North-West TPP, operate in resemblant with the power systems of Norway and Finland.

JSC SO UES, being the fellow of the resemblant operation of power systems, provides frequency regulation in the power connection of the countries sharing in the coetaneous zone.
